Jeremy Bentham - Queen Anne's Gate
The philosopher attended Westminster School, went to Oxford in 1760 at the age of 12 and lived at 40 Queen Anne's Gate. He was one of the earliest proponents of jogging, exercising every day in St James's Park. His stuffed body is on public display at University College, minus his head, which was replaced with a wax copy as the original was subject to so many student pranks.

Ben Jonson - Westminster Abbey
Ben Jonson (1574-1637) the Poet Laureate, was buried in Westminster Abbey standing up, thus taking up less costly floor space.

The author of Dracula died at 26 St. George’s Square.

Colonel Blood - Tufton Street
The notorious Colonel Blood, who tried to steal the Crown Jewels and Regalia from the Tower of London once resided at a house on the corner of Great Peter Street and Tufton Street.

Guy Fawkes - Old Palace Yard
When being led to the noose at Old Palace Yard, opposite the building he had attempted to destroy, Guy Fawkes managed to jump from the gallows, breaking his neck in the fall and thus avoiding the agony of the latter part of his execution of hanging, drawing and quartering.

Norman Wisdom - Artillery Mansions
According to his biography, Norman Wisdom slept rough under the statue of Marshal Foch by the bus station at the age of 9. Before going into comedy he worked as an errand boy in Artillery Mansions on Victoria Street which was then a grand hotel.

Westminster School - Deans Yard
Westminster School has had a huge number of famous past pupils who include: Christopher Wren, Dido, A.A. Milne, John Gielgud, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Louis Theroux, Helena Bonham Carter and Tony Benn. Shane McGowan of The Pogues was also a pupil (expelled for drug use). The school’s more illustrious alumni includes six Victoria Cross holders and six Prime Ministers, plus Nick Clegg.
